Chelsea Player Ratings vs Stoke City
We are 30 games deep into this exciting season of Premier League and the Blues are now 7 points clear to 2nd placed Arsenal in the table, with one game in hand.
Chelsea’s latest fixture was against Stoke City at Stamford Bridge which ended 2-1 in Chelsea’s favor. The game was very difficult but Chelsea players showed great ambition and played like champions to seal all the three points. Here are the ratings of Chelsea players based on their performances against Stoke.
Thibaut Courtois – 6.0/10
He had very little work to do but was terribly beaten by Charlie Adam’s 63 yard lofted attempt.
Branislav Ivanovic – 6.7/10
Brana’s performance was satisfactory yesterday defensively he was good and also contributed a lot in the attack.
Terry & Cahill – 7.8/10
The duo was fantastic as they showed great chemistry and were rock solid at the back. Combined, they blocked and cleared many shots and crosses and some of them were match saving. Overall it was a remarkable performance as they had the Stoke attackers in their pockets.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 6.5/10
Dave’s performance was average but he was visible on every part of the pitch. He attempted a few crosses which weren’t really fruitful or threatening but defensively he was solid.
Nemanja Matic – 6.5/10
Matic was average too as he didn’t boss the midfield like his usual self but his passes were very threatening and a few of his runs were good too.
Cesc Fabregas – 7.2/10
Fabregas was pretty great as he cleverly won the penalty. He was involved in most of the attacking buildups and also initiated some of them.
Willian – 7.5/10
Willian was great too as his presence was noticeable and felt in both attacking and defensive halves and his movements on and off the ball were fantastic. His finishing as usual was erratic.
Oscar – 6.7/10
Oscar was on the pitch for just 45 minutes but the entire time he was not good enough. He made a few dribbles and attempted a few threatening shots on goal.
Eden Hazard – 9.0/10
Hazard was clearly the best player on the field. He scored a penalty and also assisted the winner to Remy, his movements were dreadful for the Stoke defenders while he was involved in each and every attacking buildup of Chelsea.
Loic Remy – 7.7/10
Loic Remy was very impressive as he netted a goal and was continuous threat for the Stoke defenders. In the end he has proved that Chelsea have an excellent 2nd choice striker.
Diego Costa – NA
He was on the pitch for just 10 minutes.
Didier Drogba – 6.0/10
He replaced injured Diego Costa but had very little work to do on the field.
Juan Cuadrado – 6.2/10
Just like Drogba even Cuadrado had very little work to do but he helped Chelsea to initiate some attacks on many occasions.
