Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas insists that he is happy at Chelsea and enjoying his football with the London side.
The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder has had a recent dip in form as has struggled to make the same impact with the Chelsea side as he did during the first half of the season. However, the Spaniard, who is just 4 assists away from equalling Thierry Henry’s Premier League record of 20 assists in a single season, said in an interview to Marca:
” I am going through a great moment, both personally and athletic. I have no reason not to be happy. I enjoy everything that happens to me.”
The central midfielder also talked up the chances of Chelsea winning the Premier League. He said:
“I am practically playing every minute for my team and that’s what makes me happy. To be important is fundamental. Now we have to fight hard for the Premier League to end a great year.”
Despite his sensational form this season, a place in the national side has been hard to come by for Fabregas. This could be due to his drastic dip in form in the Chelsea shirt. He was on the bench in Spain’s 1-0 win against Ukraine in the Euro 2016 Qualifiers and never got a chance to create an impact in the game. However, he remains positive and states that the team comes before him. He was quite upbeat about the situation and said:
“I do not think I’ve lost my place in the team because I’ve never been undisputed, the important thing is the team and if the coach does not put you, it is because they are better.”
Spain play Netherlands in a friendly on Tuesday and Fabregas would be looking to grab his chance.
