Chelsea vs PSG – Blues’ Possible Starting Eleven

With Capital One Cup wrapped in our bags and PL trophy probably on the way to Stamford Bridge, it leaves us with our third and definitely the most coveted one to play for; the UCL!

Chelsea, for quite some time now, have been the only side in the EPL to represent England on the biggest stage and this is yet another chance for the Blues’ to advance to the QF of this prestigious competition but for that, we have to overcome a star-studded PSG side tomorrow.

A 0-0 draw would see us through to the next stage while a 1-1 draw would lead us to extra time and possibly penalties. With John Obi Mikel as the only known absentee, we have a fully fit and motivated squad at our disposal and here’s how we think the Portuguese might start tomorrow:

The Belgian was immense at the goal post against West Ham at Boleyn Ground as his World Class saves saw us maintain a clean-sheet and bring the PL trophy closer to the Bridge. Courtois will have a big role to play when he starts tomorrow.

This is a tough one. Gary Cahill have been a rock for Chelsea in the past couple of games and the Englishman definitely deserves a spot alongside Terry in the defense but, given the speed of Cavani and the strength of Ibrahimovic, it might be wise to start Zouma ahead of Cahill as the Frenchman is more athletic and physically superior to Cahill. Horses for courses, as they say!

Mourinho would surely start the Spaniard ahead of Filipe Luis, as Azpilicueta is more defensively minded than the Brazilian, who is more adventurous. Perhaps, Mourinho can give Luis a look in if, we need a goal in the final few minutes as the Brazilian is brilliant in putting crosses in the opposition defense. Although, we hope it doesn’t come to that situation!

Ivanovic has been performing brilliantly for the Blues in the past few weeks and there’s no doubt why he doesn’t start tomorrow.

The duo hasn’t started alongside each other for few games now and we can’t wait to see Matic back in action at the Bridge as the Serbian controls the proceedings in the midfield while Fab does his stuffs from the deep.

There’s also a case of we going 4-3-3, with Ramires slotting in alongside these two at the expense of Oscar but, a normal 4-2-3-1 is how we roll at home and it should be the same, come tomorrow.

The Belgian is one of the best players in the world when he is in form and Van Der Wiel could be in for a very tough day if Hazard finds his feet tomorrow.

Willian starts ahead of Juan Cuadrado at the RW as the Brazilian has been tried and tested and you know what you are gonna get with the Brazilian on the wings. The tireless running, the endless pressure, and some good link-up play is what we expect from Willian tomorrow.

If we start in a normal 4-2-3-1, Oscar definitely gets a nod at the CAM spot but, if Mourinho reverts to a 4-3-3, we might see Ramires starting ahead of the Brazilian. A team with Oscar in form is definitely a better Chelsea team and I would like to see Oscar start tomorrow.

Diego Costa vs David Luiz is the battle we all are excited to watch tomorrow. Although, Costa has been short of his form since his return from the ban but, you can never write off a player of his caliber and for that reason he would start at the Bridge.
