PSG vs Chelsea 1 – 1: Goal Analysis

It was a jubilant match and the result which both sides will take happily. A draw surely gives Chelsea an upper hand in the reverse fixture at Bridge but PSG shouldn’t be taken lightly. The match was not the one which kept people off their seats but surely, Thibaut Courtois was the saviour for the Blues.

The match ended in a stalemate 1-1 draw with Edinson Cavani and Branislav Ivanovic finding the net with their heads.

First Half:

Ivanovic (36’)

Terry, surprisingly is on the left flank. He carries ahead and crosses the ball in for Cahill. Gary Cahill plays one of the finest back flicks in the box towards Ivanovic. Ivanovic rises above the PSG defenders and heads the ball back into the net. Super header by the Super Serbian. Chelsea lead the game with 1-0 after that wonderful goal aimed at the top left corner. Ivanovic opened the scoring after the fantastic header and put Chelsea in front going into the half time.

Second Half:

Cavani (54’)

Maxwell with the ball; passes to Blaise Matuidi. Some good play at the flank, Matuidi with a brilliant touch and he whippets it in to Edison Cavani. Cavani rises, heads and puts one behind Courtois, ahead of Cahill. Scores back to level pegging. What a wonderful finish by the Uruguayan into the top right corner. Surely a saving grace for the host as the match ended in a draw at Parc des Princes.

The action now shifts to Stamford Bridge for a nail biting encounter. PSG knows that the Bridge is Chelsea’s fortress and things will be tough in London. But they also know that they have the firepower in their team to cause an upset.

The reverse fixture is tough and crucial for both the European heavyweights. Let’s wait and check out whats in store for the teams from the Capitals.
