Chelsea vs Tottenham Hotspurs – Blues’ Possible Starting Eleven
Revenge is all I can think of, what about you?
Seriously, after that new year humiliation, I didn’t thought we would have a chance of meeting our neighbours so soon but here we are, against the Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with the Capital One Cup on the line tomorrow!
Mohammed Salah, the Blues’ loanee to Fiorentina, has already spoiled the party for the London side by kicking them out off the Europa League and it is up to Chelsea now to pay back what they gave us at their home ground on the 1st of January. Oh, how I would love a complete demolition of Kane and Co.!
As far as Blues are concerned, we would be going into this fixture without the services of our best and most important player Nemanja Matic (thanks to the incompetency of FA) which is definitely a big blow for us. Although, with the rest of the squad fully fit and no other known injury concerns here’s how we think the Portuguese might line-up against Pochettino’s side tomorrow:
GK – THIBAUT COURTOIS
Some folks would prefer the experience of Cech in the Cup final if the game ever go to the shoot-outs but, if the recent interviews are anything to go by, it looks like Courtois would be getting the nod over the veteran goalkeeper tomorrow.
CB – JOHN TERRY and KURT ZOUMA
Again, an experienced duo of Cahill and Terry might be a good choice but the Englishmen are prone to make mistakes against a pacy striker/poacher as we have seen this season so far, so, it might be wise to pair Zouma with John Terry at the back, as the Frenchman has done well against the likes of Sterling, Aguero and Lukaku in the recent times. No reason why he can’t do it again.
LB – CESAR AZPILICUETA
With the pace of Kyle Walker, Townsend/Lamela on the wings, Jose Mourinho would definitely look to start Azpilicueta over Filipe Luis as the Spaniard is far better in dealing the one on one situation than any other defender in the league.
RB – BRANISLAV IVANOVIC
The Serbian picks himself after his very impressive performances in the last few games. No reason why he doesn’t start tomorrow.
CM – JOHN OBI MIKEL and CESC FABREGAS
With Matic unavailable for this crucial fixture due to the combined stupidity of FA, Barnes and Atkinson, it would be probably be John Obi Mikel who would start alongside Cesc Fabregas in the Central Midfield for the Blues.
With the explosive pace of some of the Spurs players, we definitely need a Defensive Midfielder to control things down in the midfield and we hope Mikel can do that when he starts at Wembley tomorrow while Fabregas does his usual magical stuff from the deep.
LW – EDEN HAZARD
The Belgian would be set to destroy Walker and Co. once again at Wembley tomorrow just like he did a couple of months back only this time he would hope for some support from his team-mates.
RW – WILLIAN
Willian, the work-horse, we need you at your very best to compliment Hazard at the opposite wing tomorrow. Since the arrival of Cuadrado, the Brazilian has taken his game to another level and we hope he can continue his glorious form to bring the trophy to Stamford Bridge.
CAM – OSCAR
Another Brazilian who had a horrible game against Spurs last time around would look to redeem himself as he combines with Fabregas to provide that creativity from the middle.
STRIKER – DIEGO COSTA
Score us a winner Diego, will ya?
The Spaniard has been off colour for few day now, but what better way to get back to his usual self than destroying Spurs in a Cup final. Watch out folks, a brace is definitely on the cards!
