Seven points clear at the top and a chance to make it even more! Are you up for it?
Because I certainly am! With Manchester City set to spend their time on the pitch on a cold rainy night in Stoke, a win at Stamford Bridge against Everton could certainly see us extend our 7 points lead even further. That would be brilliant, won’t it?
More good news for Chelsea involves Cesc Fabregas coming back into our starting line-up after the assist Maestro missed the last two games with a hamstring problem. Diego Costa still serves his ban, but with a replacement like Loic Remy, that isn’t much of a problem either!
Barring Filipe Luis, we seem to have a perfectly match-fit squad at our disposal and here’s how our manager is expected to start tomorrow:
GK – THIBAUT COURTOIS
The Belgian had a bit of a shaky game against Villa in the weekend. If it was someone like Mignolet, then there wouldn’t have been a problem, but such has been the standard of Courtois that even a little off game becomes front page news. Hopefully, he sorts out everything against Everton.
CB – JOHN TERRY AND GARY CAHILL
Gary Cahill got the nod over Zouma on the weekend and the Englishman did most of the things right to justify his selection on the pitch. Although, it would be more of a tactical decision, Jose might give the nod to the experienced duo once again against Lukaku and Co.
LB – CESAR AZPILICUETA
The Spaniard was back in form against Aston Villa on the weekend and with Filipe Luis out injured, Azpilicueta will start yet again in the Left Back spot.
RB – BRANISLAV IVANOVIC
After giving a match-winning performance in the weekend, the Serbian will be up and ready to continue his brilliant form going into this fixture. Need a few more of those half-volleys Brana!
CM – NEMANJA MATIC and CESC FABREGAS
The preferred duo will be back once again as Fabregas returns from injury for the Everton clash. Frankly, we struggled in the absence of the Spaniard and his partnership with Matic is sure to bring out the best in this Chelsea side!
LW – EDEN HAZARD
Eden Hazard will be another player who will benefit big time with the return of Fabregas. The Belgian will be able to express himself even more on the pitch now as opposition players will also have the Spaniard to deal with.
RW – JUAN CUADRADO
This might be the game we finally see a full debut for Juan Cuadrado. Jose Mourinho did mention in his interview that Willian was suffering from some kind of a knock in the Villa game which might prompt the Portuguese to rest the midfielder in favor of the Colombian.
CAM – OSCAR
Oscar has this place locked down for now with some consistent showings in the last few games. Although, generally being great all over the pitch, we certainly expect more from the Brazilian going forward.
STRIKER – LOIC REMY
Loic Remy is set to start in the Striker role as Diego Costa serves the last of his three-match ban. Good luck Loic in destroying Jagielka and Co.!
