Isn’t this the time we all have been waiting for?
It’s been a bloody week since we had our daily dose of football but then again, think about the players and the rest they probably needed after those intense last 10 days of January and a week off doesn’t look so ridiculous after all.
Oh well, the real football is back anyways, as Chelsea travels to Villa Park in a hope to turn the Aston Villa’s nightmarish season into something of a disaster.
Diego Costa and Filipe Luis are the sure absentees from Mourinho’s squad due to suspension (FA lol) and injury respectively, while Cesc Fabregas is also expected to be unavailable for this game due to a hamstring problem.
With our quality and the form of our hosts a win for the Blues looks to be the only possible outcome of this fixture or so do we hope. Here’s how Mourinho is expected to line-up against the Paul Lambert’s men:
GK – THIBAUT COURTOIS
No doubts here, as the Belgian surely starts at Villa Park tonight ahead of Petr Cech.
CB – JOHN TERRY and KURT ZOUMA
Tough one here, but with Kurt Zouma keeping his cool against Aguero and Sterling in his last two starts, while impressing the fans and manager, alike with his mature display is most likely set to partner Terry once more in the centre of our defense.
LB – CESAR AZPILICUETA
With Filipe Luis injured, Cesar Azpilicueta is the obvious starter in the Left Back spot, as he combines with Eden Hazard on the wings to break into the Villa defense.
RB – BRANISLAV IVANOVIC
The Serbian wasn’t his 100% during the game against City, but with 7 days of deserved rest, Ivanovic would be raring to start and bomb forward on every opportunity he gets.
CM – NEMANJA MATIC and CESC FABREGAS
With Mourinho declaring Fabregas fit in the recently held Press Conference, Matic and Fabregas shall acquire the spots in front of our back four. Matic started against Manchester City last match and was brilliant as expected. Fabregas returning from a hamstring injury will have to carry loads of expectations when he steps in at Villa Park. The duo has however has been the most effective defensive midfielders in the league so far and would carry on the stint further!
LW – EDEN HAZARD
Left Wing = Eden Hazard.
They are synonymous. Enough said!
RW – WILLIAN
While many fans might be expecting to see the new signing Juan Cuadrado in action, Mourinho would most likely want to go with his tried and tested line-up, which means, a start for Willian on the Right Wing, while probably a late sub appearance for the Colombian.
CAM – OSCAR
In the absence of Fabregas, Oscar will have to be at his very best in the No. 10 role. With Villa probably looking to sit back and defend in numbers, we might need a bit of creativity from the Brazilian in the CAM spot.
STRIKER – LOIC REMY
Proving himself a more than capable replacement time and time again, the Frenchman will have another opportunity to show his skills, when he starts at Villa Park tonight!
