The Premier League action returns this weekend when Jose Mourinho’s top placed Chelsea travel to the Liberty Stadium to line-up against Garry Monk’s 9th placed Swansea city.
The home side, after the sale of their top striker to City, are a bit light on the attacking front but the presence of players like Dyer, Routledge, Sigurdsson and Gomis is more than enough to cause trouble in opposition defense.
The high-flying Chelsea side, on the other hand, have been in a shaky form as of late and after that New Year’s day humiliation against Spurs, there have been few questions regarding fatigue and burn out of our players. With City just 2 points behind us, Jose Mourinho would definitely like to change this when he comes up against Swansea City and this is how we expect him to line-up tomorrow:
GK – THIBAUT COURTOIS
The Belgian missed the game against Newcastle last week due to a finger injury. Petr Cech’s brilliance in the absence of Courtois ensured that the Belgian will have to put up World Class performances week in week out to start consistently and we reckon it’s Courtois who gets the nod over Cech tomorrow.
CB – JOHN TERRY and GARY CAHILL
Kurt Zouma gave in a brilliant performance alongside Terry in the last game against Magpies but given the away fixture and some serious strike force of Swansea, Mourinho would most probably want to go with experience at the back. Another chance for Cahill to redeem himself after the Spurs debacle.
LB – FILIPE LUIS
In the absence of Azpilicueta, who is out due to a groin injury, Filipe Luis is the obvious choice at the LB spot.
RB – BRANISLAV IVANOVIC
After a shocker against Spurs, the Serbian was back to his old self against the Magpies and he will look to continue that form ahead of the trip to Swansea.
CM – NEMANJA MATIC and CESC FABREGAS
Both our first choice CM’s are expected to start alongside each other yet again at their preferred role. Although, there could be a case of Mourinho going in with Ramires instead of Oscar as Fab slots in No. 10.
LW – EDEN HAZARD
The Belgian will look to continue his blistering form which has seen him earn respect from fans and neutrals alike. Fair to say, Angel Rangel could be in all sorts of trouble tomorrow.
RW – WILLIAN
With Schurrle and Salah hardly impressing, Willian is the most obvious choice to start on the Right Wing against the Swans.
CAM – OSCAR
Oscar bagged a goal and an assist against the Magpies last weekend but kept losing the ball and misplaced number of key passes, especially in the first half. The Brazilian would definitely like to work on that when he lines up against Garry Monk’s side.
STRIKER – DIEGO COSTA
The Spaniard was largely absent in the first half last weekend but turned the table completely in the second half with a brilliant performance. We just hope that he continues that form in the entire match when he lines up against the Swans.
