London Team of the Year – 2014
As we head into 2015, let us glance through the last year and check out the London Team of the Year – 2014. This team is compiled by whoscored.com for standard.co.uk.
Chelsea have been successful in overshadowing Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, West Ham United, Queens Park Rangers and Crystal Palace influencing the London Team of the Year – 2014.
Team as below:
GK : Hugo Lloris (Tottenham Hotspur)
RB : Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea)
CB : James Tomkins (West Ham United) and Laurent Koscielny (Arsenal)
LB : Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea)
CDM : Nemanja Matic (Chelsea) and Mile Jedinak (Crystal Palace)
RW : Alexis Sanchez (Arsenal)
CAM : Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea)
LW : Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
ST : Diego Costa (Chelsea)
Adding to the fabulous stint of performances by Chelsea, six Blues have made it to the London Team of the Year – 2014. Dominating the full backs’ position, Branislav Ivanovi? stands as a Right Back, while Cesar Azpilicueta takes on the Left Back spot in the team. Nemanja Mati? makes it to the duo in front of the defense line as Central Defensive Midfielder standing along with Crystal Palace’s Mile Jedinak.
The Blues have completely hegemonized the attacking front of the team by earning 3 spots out of the 4. Eden Hazard scoring the highest number of goals for the Blues’ in the Calendar Year 2014, features on the Left Wing, as Costa leads the attack as the Striker in front of another summer successful signing for Chelsea, Cesc Fàbregas. Costa has already scored 14 goals for the Blues and Fabregas is leading with 13 assists, which is the highest by any player in 2014, despite joining the Blues in August.
Arsenal’s Alexis Sanchez squeezed in and made a place for himself in the attack overfilled with Blues. West Ham United’s James Tomkins and another Gunner Laurent Koscielny managed to reserve a place in front of the Hotspur’s shot stopper Hugo Lloris. However, inclusion of Mile Jedinak in the team of the year is a surprise element for EPL fans. He steered his team to 11th place in the Points Table last season, which apparently reserved him a place adjacent to Matic.
Placing another feather into the hat, Chelsea set foot in 2015. We wish hearty congratulations to our six players and wish Chelsea glorious second half of the season. KTBFFH!
