Liverpool vs Chelsea – Blues’ Possible Starting Eleven

After the thumping win against Swansea City, a couple of days back, it’s time to win some trophies as we line-up against Liverpool in the first leg of the Capital One Cup semi-final.

Although, Capital One Cup might be lowest in our pecking order but a trophy is a trophy and we are in for a Quadruple, right?

So, keeping that in mind Jose Mourinho might not entertain the idea of wholesale changes in our starting line-up, even more so when it’s an away fixture. Here’s how we think the Portuguese might start against the Merseyside club:

GK – PETR CECH

Two clean sheets in the last two games; Petr Cech has been brilliant for the Blues as usual and the Czech Republic star is set to start ahead of injured Courtois tomorrow.

CB – JOHN TERRY and GARY CAHILL

Kurt Zouma is certainly in for a shout at the CB spot but given that it’s an away fixture, the Portuguese might want to go in with the experienced duo and give Zouma his opportunity in the FA Cup and the home leg next week.

LB – FILIPE LUIS

With Cesar Azpilicueta injured, the Brazilian is set to start in the Left Back spot tomorrow.

RB – BRANISLAV IVANOVIC

The Serbian surely starts at the Right Back spot to nullify the threat of Sterling/Coutinho on the wings.

CM – NEMANJA MATIC and CESC FABREGAS

There’s a case for Ramires/Mikel to start alongside Matic while Fab slots in at No. 10 spot. But given the form Oscar is in, the boss might want to stick with the winning combination at Anfield tomorrow.

LW – EDEN HAZARD

The Belgian most probably starts at the Left Wing as he continues his quest to greatness by destroying every fullback on his way.

RW – WILLIAN

Again, Andre Schurrle will be in contention at the RW, but Willian is too good to be dropped with the kind of form he is in.

CAM – OSCAR

The Brazilian is my favourite player and is a joy to watch when he is in top form. He most probably starts at his preferred CAM spot tomorrow.

STRIKER – DIEGO COSTA

Costa is another guy who is in just too good a touch to be left out right now. His battle with Skrtel will be the one to watch out for as he starts tomorrow.
