Chelsea vs Liverpool ( 1-0 ) – Player Ratings – The Blues head to Wembley!
It was an intense game as both teams went for the kill and Chelsea emerged as the winner. A powerful header from Branislav Ivanovic in Extra Time was enough to put the Blues into the final of the Capital One Cup. Here are the player ratings for Chelsea.
Thibaut Courtois – 9.5 /10
He had a perfect game as he dominated his area and saved all the shots that came his way. He was on top in the first half as Liverpool were firing shots at Chelsea.
Branislav Ivanovic – 9/10
A good goal to wrap up the tie and a solid defensive game was key to Chelsea’s win. He gave Moreno and Sterling troubles in their left flank.
Kurt Zouma – 8/10
He showed great pace to battle Sterling. He was solid throughout the match and showed intent and focus. A performance that would give him confidence.
John Terry – 7.5/10
He was strong at the back and was committed in his tackling. Though he had problems against Sterling’s pace, he dealt with it well with the help of Zouma and others.
Filipe Luis – 7.5/10
He started ahead of Azpilicueta and had a good game until he injured himself in the middle of the second half. He was good value for his performance as he showed purpose going forward.
Nemanja Matic – 7.5/10
He had problems with Liverpool’s high pressure in the first half but he eased on as the game progressed. The introduction of Ramires helped him in the process.
Cesc Fabregas – 6.5/10
Fabregas was substituted in the early minutes of the second half when he injured himself in a clash with Terry. He had an average first half where he had to adapt to the high-pressure game by Liverpool.
Oscar – 8/10
He was in great form like in recent times as he did a splendid job creatively and defensively. Played the whole game and had great participation.
Eden Hazard – 8.5/10
He danced and toyed around the Liverpool defence with his skills. He had a good day as he was involved in all of the good things that Chelsea did.
Willian – 8.5 /10
A great display of skill and stamina as Willian worked tirelessly and provided the support to deal with Liverpool’s pressing and got a great assist for Ivanovic’s winner.
Diego Costa – 8/10
He was present throughout the game and bullied the Reds back four. He committed a few stinging fouls but the referee didn’t notice him.
Ramires – 8/10
He had fgood game as he gave a powerful packed game when he came of for an injured Fabregas. He negated the Liverpool pressing.
Azpilicueta – 7.5/10
He had a decent game when he came on for Luis. Would mostly start against Manchester City.
Didier Drogba – N/A
He was a late sub for the impressive Willian.
