Forget the Premier League, it’s the weekend when trophies would be won as we edge closer to the dream of becoming a Quadruple winning side and going down into the history as one of the best team that ever played this beautiful game. But before that, we have a slight issue of winning a few matches and this weekend it’s the League One minnows, Bradford City, we are up against, before we host Liverpool in the Capital One Cup.
Given the congested fixture, Jose Mourinho would look to rotate his squad against the Bantams or so we and our fringe players hope!
With all due respect, no one expects the Bantams to come all guns blazing at Stamford Bridge as they neither have the quality nor the talent to match a Premier League side of Chelsea’s caliber. So, resting our key players appears to be the most obvious option for the manager and with Manchester City also looming at the end of the month this is how we think the manager might start against Bradford City:
GK – PETR CECH
After the question marks posed by some stupid critics regarding the Spurs performance, Courtois followed it with a breathtaking display against the Merseyside club making some impossible saves. The Belgian is set to be rested in favor of Petr Cech for this fixture.
CB – KURT ZOUMA and GARY CAHILL
John Terry is also set to be rested as Kurt Zouma starts alongside Gary Cahill in the Central Defense for the Blues. Another opportunity for Zouma to make his name as the successor of Terry!
LB – FILIPE LUIS
The impressive Filipe Luis is set to make his 3rd start in a row against the Bantams on the Left Back spot.
RB – CESAR AZPILICUETA
For once, Dave would start in his preferred Right Back spot ahead of the rested Ivanovic as the Spaniard shakes off his injury.
CM – JOHN OBI MIKEL and RAMIRES
Now this is where it gets tricky. Matic and Fabregas, two of our best players, looked dead tired against Liverpool in the League Cup and this may be the time for Mourinho to try out the fringe players and give opportunity to the likes of Mikel and Ramires in the Central Midfield!
LW – ANDRE SCHURRLE
With all the transfer rumors surrounding the German, this is the time for Schurrle to come good against the League One minnows before one of the rumors does come true!
RW – LOIC REMY
The Frenchman has been impressive whenever he has had the opportunity to start for us and with Willian rested and Salah’s future in doubt, Loic Remy looks set to start in the Right Wing at the Bridge.
CAM – OSCAR
With Fabregas set to be rested, Oscar would be our main creative outlet at the No.10 spot when the Brazilian lines-up against the Bantams. Oscar was brilliant against the Swans and would look to continue his brilliant form in the FA Cup.
STRIKER – DIDIER DROGBA
The Ivorian would most probably start as our No.9 to help break down the compact and resilient Bradford’s defense as Loic Remy slots in the Right Wing.
