Excluding the transfer budget bar, no wonder that any team will be rejecting the chance to sign the 4-time Ballon D’or winner himself. And it is of no surprise that Chelsea are tracking Lionel Messi for a long time now. The speculation got stronger when the Argentine started following the Blues on Instagram and few players that are plying their trade at Stamford Bridge.
Can the deal go on well under FFP
The name is enough, Roman Abramovich. But surely FFP will not be complied with this criteria. Adidas the current Chelsea’s kit maker have Messi as their brand ambassador. Besides, Turkish Airlines will be the jersey sponsor from next campaign replacing Samsung. And to no surprise, Messi is also the main ambassador for the airlines alongside Didier Drogba, surely no introduction needed for the king himself. Hence together, Adidas and Turkish Airlines will do anything needed to make the deal happen. Fans will be eagerly waiting to don the blue jersey under the Argentine’s name which in turn means skyrocketing revenue for the kit sponsors. If any team has someone of Messi’s caliber there will be no shortage for the silverware too and yes thumbs up again with FFP. Chelsea rumored to extend the capacity of Stamford Bridge and it will be a dream come true for fans to see the Argentine and hence more fans attraction leading to more ticket sale. Adding to the point more sponsor and larger television revenues will help make the deal go well despite the FFP.
Messi wants change?
Surely the little master had shattered many records during his stint with FC Barcelona. He may want to face new challenges with his new team in a new league. And at the age of 27, it is the best time for him to take up that new challenge. Surely there is no need for him to try new challenges to be considered great but it is not a bad option either.
Will FC Barcelona let him go?
Messi is arguably the world’s best player in the game. Surely the Catalans will try to do everything to hold on to the 4-time Ballon D’or winner. Considering his love towards the Spanish giants, it will be of no surprise if he eventually stays put.
Rumors have something to say
Chelsea are rumored to be tracking the Argentine and his relationship with his club for a very long time now. According to some close sources, London-based club is ready to pay the Argentine’s buyout clause including the high wages demand of the player.
The Londoners are also thought to be in talks with Messi’s agent and his father to gel any move.
What could be the real situation
It is no secret that there is a rift between the FC Barcelona manager Luis Enrique and Lionel Messi. It is a rumor that the Catalans boss wanted to punish the Argentine by benching him to set an example for others that there is nothing for granted for anyone; not even the best. Unfortunately Catalans fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of David Moyes’s Real Sociedad leading to dressing room bust-up between the two after the match. Being the best, one would want some respect and player of his caliber would surely not want to warm the bench considering no injury or illness. Hence it may be just a dirty trick or potential threat towards the Catalans in the sake of more respect.
There has to be some rift surely as rumors state that Catalans club trying to please him with the club being close to sack their current boss.
With the Blues gameplay improved much this term he is simply starting to like the Club.
After the incident, the world has reacted to the situation. Let us have a look on few:
During the press conference Barcelona President Josep Maria Bartomeu spoke about the current sporting situation of the first team and defended the figures of Leo Messi and Luis Enrique denying the rift between the two.
Fabregas has also responded to the situation and claimed that he has no power to pursue any other player after all he is just a player.
Jose Mourinho also stated in his interview that considering FFP, Chelsea are not going to sign the Lionel Messi. But one should not trust him because he would never reveal ongoing plans in his head.
According to the Sun, Lionel Messi is ready to talk to Chelsea or Manchester City if they offer him a staggering £500m package to quit Barcelona this summer.
Fortunately if Lionel Messi ends up at Chelsea, just imagine the fearsome attack of the Blues with likes of Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Messi, Costa, Drogba etc. The deal can happen even under FFP. And it will be of no surprise if the Argentine still ends up at Camp Nou considering it as just a potential threat.
Have your say my fellow Blues. Feedback much appreciated.
