Its been quite a while since we last heard rumours of Hazard departing Stamford Bridge for Ligue 1 once again. Let us not be disheartened by those rumours because there is this much better story coming out of the Bridge.
Its been some time since Eden Hazard was offered a new deal, Mourinho had already spoken thereof. However, in the last few days, negotiations have picked up a bit.
As it stands, Hazard is set to become the best-paid footballer in all of the Chelsea squad. He is set to surpass the deal that was once given to Fernando Torres when he signed from Liverpool.
Rumours state that the new deal would see Hazard take home a hefty 200,000 Pounds a week paycheck. This is by far the biggest contract offered to a Chelsea Player, ever. Jose Mourinho is confident that Eden Hazard would certainly accept the terms offered, though it may take quite a few days.
Since joining from Lille back in 2012, when Chelsea won the Champions League, Hazard has won the Europa League with Chelsea. Following last season’s quarterfinal clash against PSG in the Champions League, there have been persistent rumours regarding his transfer to the French Champions.
Hazard, on his part has stated enough times that he is happy and content at Chelsea. Nonetheless, the French Press doesn’t seem to have the piece of mind to accept the fact that Hazard’s dream is to win trophies with Chelsea. As such, the Chelsea board has been frustrated by the prevalent rumours in France and decided it was time to reward the Belgian with ample moolah and in-turn shut the rumour mongers up for once and for all. His proposed fee certainly is sane and sound given the fact that he was Chelsea’s top goalscorer last season with 14 goals.
Great things are expected of the #10 from Belgium, if he continues to dazzle as he does at his best, there are certainly going to be more rumours, and as a consequence, better contracts. For the Chelsea fans though, it should be a relief as well as assurance that their favourite winger isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. The goals have not been as thick as last season, yet, there have been demonstrations of what may come in the last few games of what is set to come. Hazard recently added a headed goal to his portfolio of skills and continues to evolve as an overall miracle man for the Blues.
This season is a lot about everything falling in place at the Stamford Bridge, with this contract and hopefully Hazard’s evolution into the next dimension are one of the treats in store come the end of May. There is proof of the later already visible in the games over the last year. Hazard has gone from being the defensively-lazy-passport-losing-match-missing-egoistic-would-be-star to the team-man-defender-tormenter-tracking-back-miraculous-winger-sureshot-sensation through Mourinho’s second spell.
It is evident that Mourinho wants to mold Hazard a certain way, more importantly, it is clear that Hazard is willing to. Only Time Will Tell what Hazard does achieve with Chelsea but the new contract lays the solid foundation for that.
