Mourinho has done it again; Chelsea has done it again; Who can stop them now? Stamford Bridge cheered with content as Eden Hazard, Didier Drogba and substitute Loic Remy were on the score sheet to drive the Blues six points clear of Champions Manchester City.
After a little blip at Sunderland, Chelsea were back to their best against their London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. Mauricio Pochettino’s men started brightly only for a twist in the plot thanks to Eden Hazard and it was a case of Chelsea legend Didier Drogba delivering Chelsea dominance once more.
The Blues had the penetration they lacked at Sunderland. Mourinho’s team were brilliantly drilled and strong right through the heart.
Chelsea vs Tottenham (3-0) – All Goals Highlights
19′ Eden Hazard
A wonderful one-two between Hazard and Drogba. The Belgian spun away from Lennon giving the ball to Drogba and in his usual fashion barged through the box taking three Spurs defenders out of the game and smashed it at the center of the goal. Lloris could have done better at the near post, but Hazard’s left foot shot was of high quality. The Ivorian claiming the assist.
22′ Didier Drogba
A poor clearance from Lloris went to Hazard, who fed Oscar. The Brazilian slipped to Drogba; Who had a great first touch and powered the ball ruthlessly into the goal. The Ivorian scoring his 2nd Premier League goal and 5th of the season.
73′ Loic Remy
The Frenchman came on for Didier Drogba and was bang on from the first touch. A simple through ball by Cesar Azpilicueta towards Remy who held Vertonghen off, turned him, left him on his back and fired home a stunning right footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom right corner.
The Second half was more compact with Spurs dominating in possession but Chelsea barely lost their concentration. Drogba was Drogba, bullying markers out of the way for 66 minutes. The work rate of the trio behind him; Hazard, Oscar and Willian was immense. Chelsea’s fortress is rarely breached; A hard lesson for Spurs.
The only downside from this game for the Blues would be Nemanja Matic receiving his 5th yellow card; The Serbian will not travel to Newcastle, but after the Blues’ dominance without Costa this will not be an issue to Mourinho. Victory means the Blues are unbeaten in 23 games in all competitions, equalling the club record. Unbeaten and still leading the table; The 19 rivals would be looking up to them enviously.
