According to the reports in Goal.com and Metro.co.uk, the Blues are preparing to bid £7.8m for the 23 year old Andrej Kramaric in January Transfer window, currently playing in Prva HNL (Croatian League) for HNK Rijeka and Croatian National Team.
Mourinho is known to be a fan of the youngster, following him since start of the season. Chelsea delegates and officials flew to Croatia and have met the striker’s father, his agent and representatives of HNK Rijeka to confer about, which is said to be a potential transfer deal. Chelsea is also said to have agreed upon a friendly match against Rijeka in 2016 on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the club’s new stadium, as a part of the deal.
Alluring attention from all over Europe, specially clubs like Leicester City, Chelsea and Juventus, the forward has already scored 21 goals in just 18 appearances for his club in Prva HNL this season. However, Chelsea seems to be in total control of the deal.
Being versatile player, he looks comfortable playing as winger or second striker. He is known for his penetrating runs through the wall of defense, rather waiting for the crosses. He runs for the ball in all directions in front of defense exhibiting unpredictability in his play.
Starting his career with Dinamo Zagreb as a kid, he scored over 450 goals in his youth career for the club, which made him the best Youth Player in the club’s history. He was loaned to NK Lokomotiva, another Croatian club in February 2012, where he scored 20 goals in 44 appearances. Further, when he was put on the transfer list by Dinamo, Rijeka bought him in August 2013.
He has been unstoppable since then scoring week in and week out. He opened this season with five goals in only two matches, with a hat-trick against arch rivals Hajduk Split. He has also scored a hat-trick in UEFA Europa League against Feyenoord. Recently, on November 9, 2014, he scored 5 amazing goals for his club against his formerly loaned club NK Lokomotiva.
