For Chelsea, it was only Roberto Dimatteo who landed the most awaited and the very first prize in the history of the club and without a doubt, the champions league title itself back in 2012. Here are insights about FC Schalke 04 Strength,Weakness, Team Report and Analysis before the game :

What to expect from FC Schalke 04?

The German club currently standing at the second place in the group G trailing Chelsea by 3 points will surely try to catch the leaders by nothing but a win to solidify their en route last 16. The recent form of the Germans:

22 November 2014: Schalke 04 3-2 Wolfsburg
8 November 2014: Sc Freiburg 2-0 Schalke 04
6 November 2014: Sporting CP 4-2 Schalke 04
1 November 2014: Schalke 04 1-0 FC Augsburg
25 October 2014: Bayer 1-0 Schalke 04

We all know what to expect from DiMatteo that is counter-attacking football with deep defending just like old days at Stamford. The man main Huntelaar, the best finisher at least according to his former national coach Louis Van Gaal would try to punish the back four firing in shots from almost anywhere in the final third.

Not to forget Julian Draxler, the midfield maestro expected to create chances and a good finisher himself with commanding skills over the ball. Besides Kevin Prince Boateng, the man known for long range shots is very much of a threat.

Their weakness lies in their strength only. The Germans are expected to sit behind only to wait for their proper chance for counter. Considering Chelsea’s style of play, there will be no surprise if the visitors opened them up creating spaces. Fortunately, Costa on fire is fully fit to exploit the back four of the home side. Their back four have to dig deep to stop the likes of Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Fabregas, Costa, etc. Recent evidence proved to be vital as the home side have conceded much from set pieces where Blues are known to produce much from it.

The tie-up marked the 6th meeting between the clubs with Chelsea enjoying much of it with 3 wins and 2 draws and scoring staggering 9 goals compared to 1.

Clearly the Premier League and group G leaders are the strong favourites for the mis-match and expected to be out on field with all guns as a win would ensure the last 16 place. But the match is played on field not on papers.
