Both Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas had pulled out of the Spanish national team during the international break due to minor injuries, but both are expected to be fit ahead of Saturday’s clash. Andre Schurrle too withdrew from the German squad ahead of their clash against Spain due to illness but should recover in time for the match. Apart from that Chelsea have no fresh injury concerns or suspensions. Chelsea is expected to field the same starting line-up that won at Anfield on 9th November, except Willian may come into the starting eleven in place of Ramires.

Alan Irvine has a few injury concerns. Jonas Olsson remains sidelined while Sebastien Pocognoli missed international duty with Belgium and remains a doubt for the trip to Stamford Bridge. Craig Gardner is back after serving suspension. Should Pocognoli be unfit, Andre Wisdom may have to revert to left back, with Cristian Gamboa playing on the right, while Saido Berahino will, in all probability, lead the attack alongside Stephane Sessegnon.

Chelsea looks the clear favorites to come out of this match with all 3 points. With 29 points from 11 Premier League matches, Chelsea have looked the forerunners for the league title. Having dropped just 4 points, that too away at the Etihad and Old Trafford, Chelsea look in ominous form. That being said; Chelsea have been troubled by West Brom in the recent past, with the Blues winning only 1 of their last 5 matches against the Baggies. Last season too, Chelsea drew both their matches against West Brom and hence they can not afford to take this fixture lightly.

West Bromwich Albion

West Brom lost too much revived Newcastle at home in their last league outing. With just 13 points in 11 matches, West Brom have managed only 3 wins this season. Manager Alan Irvine is under pressure to deliver, and a positive result against Chelsea will go a long way to lift the morale of the players. With 2 draws and 2 wins in their last 5 matches against Chelsea, West Brom have recent history on their side. If they can draw inspiration from these results, they can cause problems at Stamford Bridge.

In the last 10 matches, Chelsea have managed 6 wins while West Brom have won twice. 2 matches have been draws. A total of 29 goals were scored, with the 6-0 in 2010 the highest scoring match.
