Chelsea vs Liverpool – Blues’ Possible Starting Eleven

After a disappointing 1-1 draw in the midweek Champions League game against Maribor, the Blues will be back in action this weekend, in the much anticipated Premier League clash with Liverpool.

Despite their recent dodgy form, Mourinho’s side still remains at the top of the Premier League table, and the trip to Merseyside on Saturday can prove vital for both the teams in the context of the league.

Liverpool, on the other hand, despite all the expectations and excitement after they finished second last season, had a disastrous start to this year’s campaign, as they sit 7th in the league table, while they are more or less out of the Champions League.

Brendan Rodgers controversially decided to rest all of his key players in the midweek defeat against Real Madrid, so that his team remains fresh for the weekend encounter against us, which makes this battle even more interesting.

So, without wasting any more time, let’s see how the Blues are expected to line-up against Liverpool tomorrow:

The Belgian was rested in the midweek game against Maribor, but our No.1 shot-stopper will definitely be back tomorrow to line-up against Gerrard and co.

Kurt Zouma partnered John Terry in the midweek game and was largely impressive with his brilliant performance in the defense, but Mourinho will likely roll on with his tried and tested CB pairing in the tough away fixture, as Cahill makes his return to the starting lineup alongside Terry.

After serving his 3 match ban, Cesar ‘Dave’ Azpilicueta will be back in contention to compete with Filipe Luis for a start on the LB spot. As has been the trend this season, Mourinho will start the Spaniard in the PL games while the Brazilian gets his game time in the Champions League.

There was never a doubt, nor there ever will be, as to who starts on the RB spot. If the Serbian beast is fit he starts, that’s how important he is for the boss.

The duo didn’t have the best of games in the midweek against Maribor, especially Fabregas, who looked a bit out of sorts, but both of them will have a chance to dust off the disappointing 1-1 draw and dominate Gerrard and co. in the middle of the pitch in the weekend clash.

The Belgian has arguably been our best player outside the opposition D. Inside the box though, Hazard still needs to work on his shooting and decision making, but that won’t stop Mourinho from starting him on the left wing tomorrow.

The Brazilian started in the CAM spot in the midweek game but will be back to his usual right wing against Liverpool tomorrow. Schurrle has largely been non-existent in the last few games while Mourinho doesn’t seem to trust Salah, which only leaves us with Ramires and Willian for this spot. But with his recent consistent performances, it’s Willian who will likely get the nod tomorrow.

No doubts here too as Oscar starts in the CAM spot. The Brazilian has been in scintillating form for the Blues this season with his consistent performances and wonder goals. Mourinho would want him to continue his glorious touch as Chelsea looks for a win at Anfield on Saturday.

Our goal scoring machine might have been a bit quiet since his recent return after injury, but given his hunger and knack for goals, it would be unwise to bet against the Spaniard. He definitely starts tomorrow.
