Finally, Spain boss Vicente Del Bosque has broken his silence over the Diego Costa issue and has given an explanation about why he called up Costa to the national team despite the injury controversy.
“If we have called him up it is because we believe he is fit to play. If we see that is not the case we will not risk him, as has always been the case with all our players.” He said, quoted by Spanish newspaper AS.
Despite his inclusion, Del Bosque then went on to say that Costa will be given a thorough medical exam prior to a possible starting berth and that they won’t risk him if they feel he’s not ready.
“We always take into account the physical condition of our players. We don’t risk anybody and we have never forced anyone to play. They play only if they have given the all-clear by the medical staff.”
Seems to be fair enough. What do you think?
