Loan Report: Loanees Looking To Impress
According to experts, pundits and many managers, Chelsea is the best team in the Barclays Premier League at the moment, and the same can be seen on the league table. The Blues currently sit at the top of the table with a five points cushion over their closest title rivals Manchester City.
With the current squad being the best in every department, unfortunately, many players could not force their way into the first team and hence needed a way out to gain more regular first team football and valuable experience.
As we have already witnessed in the match analysis of the visit to Crystal Palace in the previous section, it is the time to have a look at the other Blues performances on loan at their respective clubs:
Nathaniel Chalobah – Burnley
The promising midfielder needed to wait until 83rd minute as he made his appearance as a substitute for Michael Kightly. He made his presence felt in the game from the very first minute and had a chance to take a few shots although mostly off target. However, luck did not favour him as his side suffered a disappointing 1-3 defeat at the hands of visiting West Ham.
Thorgan Hazard – Borussia Monchengladbach
The gifted Belgian winger had to wait until the 82nd minute to make any impact on the game. He came on as a substitute for Raffael. He assisted Max Kruse with a long ball very late in the game following a pass by a team-mate in the penalty box. This forced the opposition goalkeeper to leave his line early allowing Kruse to manoeuvre a beautiful chip shot over the defender into an empty goal. His team recorded a convincing 0-3 win away at Hannover 96.
Gael Kakuta – Rayo Vallecano
The attacking midfielder was given the chance to play the full 90 minutes against hosts, Granada. The match was more of a frustrating one as the visiting side had to dig deep for the winner late in injury time. The young Frenchman was the center of attention as the visitors enjoyed most of the possession. He assisted the only goal of the match as Manucho slotted home with a right footed shot from the right side of the box into the bottom left corner of the net. At the end of the day, the match 0-1 ended in favor of the visitors.
Victor Moses – Stoke City
The Nigerian winger enjoyed a decent time on the pitch against Swansea. He proved to be a handful for Swansea right-back Ángel Rangel with his excellent pace and skills over the ball. He was fouled by Rangel in the penalty box which led to Charlie Adam’s equalizer for Stoke City from the spot after The Swans took the lead through a Wilfried Bony goal. Moses was replaced by Oussama Assaidi in the 73rd minute. His hard work and pace paid off as his side recorded 2-1 win over the visiting Swansea side who thought that it was their day in a hard fought match.
Ryan Bertrand – Southampton
The English defender played the full match in which his side recorded the historic 8-0 home win over a distraught Sunderland side. He was never tested in his left-back position except for a few crosses from Sunderland at the start of the second half.
Lucas Piazon – Eintracht Frankfurt
The Brazilian playmaker played the whole game for Eintracht. Despite few good efforts from the wing, Piazon was unable to provide much to the visiting team. Unfortunately, his side suffered a disappointed 3-1 defeat to home side SC Paderborn 07.
Fernando Torres – AC Milan
The Spanish striker was a part of the AC Milan team in a match away at Verona. Despite decent forward runs and good hold-up play in the final third, Torres was unable to get on the scoresheet. He was substituted in the 69th minute and replaced Jeremy Menez. It was not to be a bad night for the Rossoneri as they recorded a convincing 3-1 win over a 10-men Verona side.
Wallace – Vitesse Arnhem
The young Brazilian defender played an important role in the 1-4 away victory of Vitesse Arnhem over Willem II. He was not properly tested and hence had the edge over the opposition in his position. Despite getting booked for a foul very late in the game, it was a decent game for the Brazilian.
Bertrand Traore – Vitesse Arnhem
The talented forward scored his very first goal for Vitesse Arnhem in an overjoyed 1-4 away win of over Willem II. The forward was never shy of taking his chances in the game. It was quite a good game for him considering his age and the experience he gained. He was replaced by Uros Djurdjevic in the 79th minute following a booking against his name.
It was also disappointing to see that several players were unable to get any match time due to various reasons. Some were rules out due to injury, some were unused substitutes and some did not even make it into the first team:
Christian Atsu (Everton), Patrick Bamford (Middlesbrough), Kenneth Omeruo (Middlesbrough), Jamal Blackman (Middlesbrough), Cristian Cuevas (Universidad de Chile), Tomas Kalas (FC Köln), Marko Marin (Fiorentina), Mario Pasalic (Elche), Josh McEachran (Vitesse Arnhem).
