Chelsea TV caught up with Loic Remy after the 4-2 win over Swansea.
The French striker was introduced with 18 minutes remaining and notched his first goal for Chelsea during his debut match.
Remy, who got on the scoresheet with a clinical finish just nine minutes after replacing Diego Costa, spoke of his delight at marking his first game in Chelsea blue with a goal.
‘It was a good day for all the team, but especially for me,’ he said. ‘I was very excited before the game because it was the first time for me on the bench with this team.
‘The team played very well, the result is very good for us and I came on and scored which is what you ask for as a striker. I was very happy to score this goal and I will try to keep going.
‘Everyone has good quality here and can deliver good passes for me, so I have to take my opportunity when I can because Diego Costa is a fantastic striker. He’s on fire at the minute so I’m just going to do my best every time the manager wants to use me.
‘To play with this kind of player I have to progress. We try to push behind him and that’s a good thing.’
The hat-trick hero on Saturday, who now has seven goals to his name this season, was quick to credit his team-mates when offering his verdict on his exceptional recent form.
‘Every striker has their own way of playing and their strengths and a different team behind them,’ said Diego Costa. ‘That is very important. If you do not have the team behind you then you cannot do things on your own. It all depends on the team.
‘I try to play in the best manner, and hopefully things will continue like that. But there will be a moment when I cannot score that is football.’
Saturday’s win was the first of seven games in 23 days for the Blues, and Remy is now turning his attention to Wednesday night’s Champions League opener.
‘We have to be careful to not take the game too easily,’ he warned. ‘Schalke are a good team.
‘I used to play in the Champions League with Marseille but since then I haven’t. I was very impatient to go back to playing in it and now I have the opportunity to play in it again so it’s very good for me. That’s what I wanted.’
