Loic Remy Key To Success

A return of only of 20 goals by Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba, many believe, was a major reason Chelsea couldn’t win the Premier League last season despite getting the better of their title rivals whenever facing them. Samuel Eto’o was just okay in the home matches, and Torres continued to disappoint while Demba Ba hardly made the team. And consequently, all of them have been sold. This season, however, signing Diego Costa has proved to be a boon as his goal scoring form early on this season has been nothing short of spectacular. Didier Drogba has been brought back to serve as back up for Costa, but at 36, it will be tough for Drogba to play full matches in case Costa is sidelined due to injury.

With this in mind, Chelsea bought former Newcastle, QPR and Marseille striker Loic Remy two days before the transfer window closed, for around 10.5 million pounds. And he couldn’t have hoped for a better introduction as he scored on his debut at Stamford Bridge barely minutes after coming on for Costa against Swansea. With a long season ahead and the fixtures coming thick and fast with the Champions League having started already, Remy will be a vital addition to the team. Let us take a look what Loic Remy brings to the table this season.
