Possible Chelsea Lineup against Manchester City

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Goalkeeper: Thibaut Courtois

For Thibaut Courtois, this match is going to be the biggest test between the posts till now. Though Thibaut Courtois has cemented his place in the Chelsea lineup in the past few matches, however, Machester City aren’t ordinary.

Right Back: Branislav Ivanovic

Ivanovic had another great game against Schalke 04 midweek. Also, he has continuously been a threat against enemy goalkeepers.

Center Backs: John Terry and Gary Cahill

John Terry and Gary Cahill’s center back partnership is going to be thoroughly tested against the attacking gameplay of Manchester City. However, both have done it for Chelsea many times in the past, and we expect them to keep Kun Aguero and party away once again.

Left Back: Cesar Azpilicueta

Filipe Luis was quite impressive during the midweek clash against Schalke in his debut. However, it seems that it is highly unlikely that Jose Mourinho will give him a start ahead of his favorite Cesar Azpilicueta. He is our preferred Left Back in the possible Chelsea lineup for the upcoming game.

Center Defensive Midfielders: Cesc Fabregas and Nemanja Matic

Return of Cesc Fabregas into the English football arena has been phenomenal and there is no reason why he will not be making it to the starting 11.

We all remember how Nemanja Matic bullied Yaya Toure in the last clash against Manchester City, and it’s highly likely that the Serbian will be given a similar role going into this match as well due to his height and physical prowess.

Left Wing: Eden Hazard

Hazard has a point to prove in this match. He has been excellent and consistent with his runs, inside the third half, however his shooting has not been as accurate as the last season. If Chelsea have to win this, Hazard will have to make it big. We can expect some thunder and lighting from the little wizard from Belgium .

Center Attacking Midfielder: Oscar

Oscar has always been Jose Mourinho’s favorite number 10, and we expect his to play the CAM role yet again. Oscar is still looking to recover last season’s form, and he will need to use his pace to feed the ball to goal scorers.

Right Wing: Willian

Willian will surely add some pace to the squad on the wing. The Brazilian will look to link up with his fellow forwards.

Striker: Diego Costa

Jose Mourinho guaranteed Costa to start against City. Diego Costa has been the talk of world football after his hat-trick last Premier League game against Swansea City. If Costa can continue his incredible form against City he will be Chelsea legend.
