The former Chelsea goalkeeper Dave Beasant expects Petr Cech to leave Stamford Bridge after falling below Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order reports London Evening Standard.
Beasant expects Chelsea to win the premier league this season, however thinks that Manchester City can prove to be a great title rivals.
“I think it was the time to bring him [Courtois] back,” Beasant said. “He’s just played in the Champions League, so he’s played at the highest level.
“Cech has been phenomenal throughout his time at Chelsea but you probably have to start looking to the future and Courtois is the future at Chelsea.
“Very hard [for Cech to take being the number two]. Once you’ve been first-choice keeper, you want to stay first-choice keeper.
“And he’s not going to move until the next transfer window but I think he’s biding his time until the next transfer window, waiting to see if there’s any hiccups so he can say ‘I’m here’, but I can’t see Petr Cech staying on the bench for too long.”
Beasant played for Chelsea for four years between 1989 and 1993, making 133 appearances for the west London club.
