Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that a draw against Schalke in the first match of their Champions League campaign is not a bad result.
“We had more than a couple of fantastic chances to win the game but we got a point. It is not the best result but it is a result”, the Portuguese told Sky Sports.
“In the second half they scored, we had a good reaction and I have nothing to complain about with my players. Of course he [Drogba] did his job, he had a good game and a good contribution. He missed the goal by a few inches and that would have been 2-0 but football is like this. Didier Drogba is not crying because of that miss.”
Jose Mourinho also insisted that he could not have started with Diego Costa, as the Brazilian needed a week to recover between matches, meaning he was restricted to a 15 minute cameo in the end.
“Diego Costa is not in condition to play three matches in a week. He has problems when he plays one game, he needs a week to recover and now playing matches Tuesday and Wednesday he can’t do it. He was not in a condition to do more than he did.”
