Didier Drogba: The King of Stamford Bridge
It would be unwise to write the impact of Didier Drogba also hailed as “The King of Stamford Bridge” in such a few words, but its fair to say that he was the single most influential player Chelsea FC had over the years.
Drogba joined chelsea in the summer of 2004 during the start of the Roman era at an estimated fee of 24M pounds and lots of questions were raised regarding the the big transfer fee for a mostly unknown player at that time but as Mourinho said “judge him when he leaves the club” and it turned to be the words of the God!
Over the years Drogba helped chelsea win 3 Premier league titles, 4 FA cups and couple of Community shield and football league cups each (destroying arsenal every single time is also a reason we love him so much), his style of play was well suited to Premier league and Mourinho, apart from scoring important goals (and he did scored the most important goal in our clubs history) he could retain possession, and disrupting any well organized defence with his raw physicality became one of his greatest attributes making him the most feared striker in the Premier league and Europe.
But perhaps the single most influential impact Drogba made was scoring that penalty that won chelsea the much awaited UCL TITLE in 2012.
No chelsea supporter can ever forget that glorious night in Munich first scoring from a corner in the dying minutes when it was all but over and after that scoring THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT GOAL which won us the Champions League title. It was the play of a hero, a champion who fought for this club who belonged to the club and to the fans leaving behind his legacy, his IMPACT that is unmatched.
HE IS THE HERO OF THE STAMFORD BRIDGE!
