Chelsea vs Sporting Lisbon: Key player battles

Chelsea have been unbeaten in all the competitions so far this season and so has been the Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon. Both of the teams having drawn their first Champions league group match will look to secure all important three points when they meet Tomorrow at Estádio José Alvalade stadium to book their place at top of the group.

And with Chelsea visiting the Portuguese capital Lisbon for their Champions League encounter on Tuesday, we decided to look up at some of the interesting Player Battles that could very well define the outcome of this game.

Here are some of the player battles to look forward to during Chelsea vs Sporting Lisbon:

This might be the one battle in midfield that shapes up this game on Tuesday. William Carvalho is a Defensive Midfielder and he is damn good at what he does. Teams like Arsenal, United and even Chelsea has been chasing him for a quite a while now which shows you how good he is in his position.

Carvalho’s primary job on Tuesday would be stopping Chelsea’s Midfield Maestro from getting in to dangerous positions and intercepting his killer passes from the midfield. Fabregas meanwhile will look to continue his glorious form, controlling the game from deep and doing what he does best, which is creating chances for Chelsea.

The battle at the left hand side of our pitch between Nani and Azpilicueta could be another interesting one to watch out for. Nani on loan from Manchester United has made a good start to this season with so far couple of goals to show for his performance. The pacy, right footed winger will start at the right wing coming up against Chelsea’s left-back Azpilicueta.

After strong performance in the last match Azpilicueta will have the responsibility to stop the direct runs from Nani when he lines up against him tomorrow night. And if Nani is in his best form this could well end up being one of the most interesting battles on the pitch.

After a not so good performance against Aston Villa Eden Hazard would be itching to get back in form when he starts against Sporting Lisbon.Cedric Soares the Sporting right-back will be the player with the unfortunate responsibility to stop Chelsea’s Eden Hazard Tomorrow. Sporting have been good defensively this season, not conceding more than a goal in any game and Cedric has been particularly good at his right back position.

Life might have been good for Cedric so far , but if an in-form Eden Hazard turns up for Chelsea on Tuesday this could well end up in an unfortunate night he won’t forget in his whole career. Do watch out for this battle.
