During his international duty for England, Chelsea ace defender has picked up a minor enjury. The coach Roy Hodgson confirmerd the injury news, but insisted that the defender will be available for the game on Monday.
Gary Cahill was substituted by Everton’s Phil Jagielka in the 84th minute at Wembley Stadium and was sitting on the bench holding ice to his right ankle, which would definitely trigger worries in the Chelsea camp.
Several news sources including IBTimes.co.uk have confirmed the news.
Hodgson insisted Cahill’s substitution was merely precautionary, however, and the Three Lions boss expects him to be fit for Monday’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Switzerland.
“Gary could have completed the game, but we thought it prudent to take him off,” Hodgson said.
“There shouldn’t be any doubt about him playing on Monday.”
