Match Preview: Burnley vs Chelsea

Finally, the spectacle has started; and the much awaited first match for Chelsea arrives on Monday night, against newly promoted Burnley.

Chelsea travel to Turf Moor with an enviable record: they are unbeaten in their opening day fixture since 1998, having won 13 out of 15 games.

The biggest dillema in terms of team news is Jose Mourinho will have to decide who the number one for Chelsea will be. If rumours are to be believed, Petr Cech will be leaving Chelsea, as he is not willing to accept a reduced role, making way for the immensely talented Thibaut Courtois to be the team’s main goalkeeper. Apart from Didier Dorgba, who is out with an ankle problem, everybody is fit and available for selection.

Diego Costa, will be making his Premier League debut, as the Chelsea fans will be hoping he is able to lift the ‘striker’s curse’. Filipe Luis too might make his debut in the League on Monday, having been impressive in pre-season. Elsewhere, Cesc Fabregas, who has been brought in with a lot of hope, will be eager to make a mark on the first day of his return to the Premier League.

Burnley will be looking to cause a major upset, as manager Sean Dyche, also known as the ‘Ginger Mourinho’ will be encouraged by the form of their new signing Lukas Jutkiewicz. He might be partnered up front by talented Under-21 England international Danny Ings.

Predicted Starting Line-up: Courtois, Azpilicueta, Cahill, Terry, Luis, Matic, Fabregas, Hazard, Oscar, Salah, Costa.
