Mark Schwarzer was just handed a 1-year contract by Chelsea raising a few questions about what is going to happen to Cech and Courtois.
The goal keeping position at Chelsea has belonged to one and only Petr Cech since long and the rest of those present were only considered for filling in for him in an even of an injury or a match ban but much has changed over the second half of the last season.
An injury for Petr Cech made him miss out the ending part of the season and eventually Schwarzer took up the duties for him.
Some 800 miles south of London, Thibaut Courtois the goal keeper who has been loaned to Atletico Madrid has lit up La Liga with his performances and would be an ideal replacement for Cech.
We also know that Mourinho spares no one who is out of form or some one who do not suit his tactics and a live example of this was seen when he benched Iker Casillas for Real Madrid and this also provides a strong argument for the fact that Mourinho might just give the nod to Courtois ahead of Cech.
Even Courtois had dropped a hint that he might return to London for the 2014-15 season and now more doubt arises on who will be the first choice goal keeper.
The release of the Hilario also triggers a few questions as he was used as a reserve goal keeper but now who will be in that position? Not Courtois because he has demanded first team football and also he looks forward to challenge Cech for a place in the first team.
Also there have been a few rumours suggesting that Cech might be sold this summer and is the new contract handed to Schwarzer making him a reserve goal keeper with Courtois being the natural starter?
Only time will tell whether Mourinho might give Cech one more season before making Courtois his first choice or will he take some bizzare decision by making Schwarzer the first team goal keeper.
