Romelu Lukaku, has been one of the most feared strikers in the last two seasons of the Premier League. Duly known for his physicality and quick acceleration, Lukaku has terrorized the premier league defenses since his debut against Norwich City. However the 6 ft 3 in giant has made as few as 10 appearances for his parent club ‘Chelsea’. Success has only been tasted by the Belgian in his Loan spells. His first spell with West Bromwich Albion resulted in 35 appearances with 17 goals, his second spell with Everton recently resulted in 31 appearances with 15 goals.
It is clearly evident by the signing of Diego Costa that Romelu Lukaku will not be the preferred man for the role, and appearances might be rare at his parent club ‘Chelsea’. Meanwhile, Lukaku has been the subject of transfer interest all summer long, he has been linked with various club ranging from a permanent deal to Everton to a loan deal at Juventus. The Belgian has also failed to extend his contract which expires in the summer of 2016.
From a personal standpoint, that would be one of the most disappointing developments in recent memory. The Belgian is exactly the sort of prospect that I absolutely love, with out of this world physical tools and limitless potential. He’s nowhere near a world class player at this stage of his development, he is still raw and displays a variety of mistakes ranging from delayed passes to hideous close control. It would be safe to say that a world class club like Chelsea cannot rely on raw talent and it would be naive to let him lead the line. However it is evident that the player will leave Chelsea, Chelsea on the other hand, after slapping a 32million price tag, could very well cash in on the Belgian as he has enjoyed interest from every corner of the globe. The next season will most probably see Lukaku leave on loan again , however there can be a twist in the tale if one of the super powers of European football comes calling with decent amount of cash offered, this will most likely see Romelu Lukaku move away from the Stamford Bridge on a transfer.
