Preseason Friendly Preview: RZ Pellets WAC vs Chelsea

Chelsea continue their pre-season tour and will face RZ Pellets WAC, also known as Wolfsberger Athletic Club, at the Klagenfurt Stadium in Austria for their third friendly this season. Having won both their games against Wycombe Wanderers and Wimbledon earlier, the Blues will look to maintain their form against their less glamourous opponents who were promoted to the Austrian top flight in 2012.

Chelsea welcome their new signings Diego Costa, Filipe Luis and Cesc Fabregas for the first time this season, who have joined the team in Velden at their Waldarena facilities along with Fernando Torres, Cesar Azpilicueta and Gary Cahill who returned from their world cup breaks. They are expected to do a double training session today while Cesc Fabregas may make his debut in the blue shirt tomorrow. Most of the the players who played the first two friendlies have travelled with the squad to Austria barring Houghton, Ola Aina, Jay De Silva, Lucas Piazon and Todd Kane, who is out with an injury.

Regular first team players, including Eden Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Andre Schurrle, Ramires are still taking time off after their busy world cup just like returning loanees Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois. Two notable absentees from the pre-season squad are Nigeria duo John Obi Mikel and Victor Moses. Although no official reason has been cited for their absence, it is believed that the two players were given time off after their world cup duties. Meanwhile another new signing Mario Pasalic has been loaned to La Liga team Elche.

While Chelsea needed three late goals from captain John Terry and Mohamed Salah to win against Wimbledon after conceding two first half goals, RZ Pellets began their campaign at the weekend with a 4-1 win against Admira Wacker.
