Tonight’s clash against Slovenian side NK Olimpija Ljubljana will be Chelsea’s fourth friendly of the pre-season and their second in Europe. Chelsea will be taking on a Slovenian team for the first time at the Stadion Stozice in Ljubljana.
The squad available for this match is the same that participated in the last match against RZ Pellets WAC. However we will see new signings Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas play for atleast 45 minutes after having trained with the squad for a week. Filipe Luis made his debut in the last match when a late Jeremie Boga goal saved the match for Chelsea having conceded a goal in the first half. Cesar Azpilicueta, Fernando Torres and Gary Cahill, who might sign a new contract this week, may all be given game time tonight.
Chelsea legend Didier Dorgba made a sensational comeback to his spiritual home as Chelsea signed him for a year on a free transfer. However Chelsea fans have to wait a little longer to see him in action as this match comes too soon for Drogba. Bamford, Baker, Brown, Boga, Chalobah will all be involved again. Senior players, i.e., Hazard, Oscar, Willian, Schurrle, Lukaku, Coutois are still on holiday, with the Belgians expected to join the squad on Wednesday. While the re-signing of Drogba puts the future of Lukaku under doubt, with Everton particularly showing interest in signing him permanently along with a loan deal for Atsu, Lucas Piazon has been loaned to Bundes Liga side Eintracht Frankfurt.
Olimpija Ljubljana finished seventh last season after finishing runners-up in the previous season. Chelsea will play against Vitesse on the 30th of July.
